This was a very fun little micro-site that was built to announce the Collectors Edition Mickey & Minnie Cruisers (only 1,000 of each made). It began with a teaser animation that featured 'spotlights' that animated along bezier curves and landed in the shape of Mickey's head and ears along with the date of the bike launch.
This micro-site also features 'Buy Now' links, which take you to the eCommerce shopping cart where you can order the Mickey and/or Minnie Cruiser directly from the website. It also takes you to the Huffy Facebook Page where they ran a Facebook contest to win one of these exclusive Cruisers.
It was a very fun little micro-site with several different animation effects, including a transition between "frames" that looks like an old, black and white film. Some of the simplified animations where handled with animated GIFs (IE: some of the subtle background image animations), while other, more complex, animations where handled with PNG sequences that were animated using JavaScript.
Pretty much everything in this micro-site has a "Whimsical" feel that goes along perfectly with the Disney brand. This was a very challenging piece to work on with a short deadline that turned out very beautiful.
This piece functions well on iPad tablets, but it not really recommended for mobile phone viewing as the screen refresh rates are not quick enough and it may have some performance issues.
Kyle Zielinsky was a huge help in cross browser testing, fixing, and optimizing the JavaScript so this micro-site ran smoothly and efficiently.
